Orthodontic Tooth Exposure

As a specialty practice focused on the health and maintenance of the periodontium/gums, we often collaborate with other specialists for multidisciplinary treatment.

In the case of orthodontic treatment, there are times when a tooth needs to be uncovered so the orthodontist can move it to its proper position. It is crucial to expose and move this tooth to its ideal position in a timely manner to help prevent cyst formation or prevent damage to adjacent teeth from pressure created by this tooth.

Once the tooth is uncovered, a gold chain is bonded to it, and the gum is closed back so your orthodontist can guide the tooth to emerge by adjusting the gold chain during the usual orthodontic appointments.
